The festival, which the Random Access composers started in 2012, opens on May 16 with “Teen New Music Riot,” a program of post-Minimalist and rock-influenced music played by the high school age musicians of Face the Music, the student ensemble based at the Kaufman Music Center in Manhattan.

The festival also includes concerts by Eight Strings & a Whistle and the soprano Helen Gabrielsen, who will perform Dag Gabrielsen’s “Food,” a short opera; the h2 quartet, a saxophone ensemble; Duo RoMi, a flute and piano duet; and the Ghost Ensemble, a band with experimental leanings (all on May 17).

The members of Composers Concordance, along with the accordion virtuoso Bill Schimmel, the saxophonist Demetrius Spaneas, the drummer Jacob Bassman and the poet and narrator Jacob Miller, will oversee their own works. TAK, a chamber group that blends acoustic and electronic sounds, will play works by David Bird (who is providing a video accompaniment) and others, and Trio Kavak will present world premieres by three of the Random Access Music composers: David Fetherolf, Gilbert Galindo and Wang Jie (all on May 18).
